Public breastfeeding is here, yall!

Time to celebrate, ladies! You can finally free the nipple….well, to nurse your baby that is. Yes, this week it officially became legal in every US state to breastfeed your child in public.

Woman smiling and breastfeeding a baby wrapped upEven though I knew women who nursed in public caught scrutiny sometimes from others, I didn’t actually know it was illegal. That’s a bit overboard to me. There are definitely more important things cops should be focused on than a breastfeeding mom.

Frankly, I don’t see a problem with public breastfeeding anyway if the mother covers herself up a bit. I think for most people, it’s only a cause for concern when the woman doesn’t try to cover up or show some “modesty” at all during the process.

I personally don’t care to see your ta-tas, ladies. 🙈 But do you, Boo! I’m just saying, some people have no shame in their game and will proudly whip that tittie out anywhere.

It’s really not my preference to be having dinner and homegirl got her big tittie hanging out with a sucking baby on it across from me at Red Lobster. I just want to enjoy my cheddar bay biscuits without a side of boob.

But it is what it is. I’m not a breastfeeding mother. In fact, I’ve never breastfed at all, so I don’t understand the importance of nursing in public. And yes, I intentionally mentioned that I’ve never nursed before given the fact that a man breastfed his newborn baby earlier this year because his wife was temporarily unable to do so. It’s a fascinating story if you aren’t familiar with it.

At the end of the day though, ladies, covered or uncovered, I won’t judge you. I may throw up a little in my mouth, but don’t mind me.

Lucky for you too, ladies, I’m gay! So, I won’t be trying to indiscreetly stare at your tig ole bitties either. (If you didn’t grow up in the 90s, you may not even know what that means. Lol! Just read it a few times. It’ll come to you.)

What do you think about breastfeeding in public? Toddley wants to know.

  1. Cool post! I had a student who couldn’t get a sitter for a 2 year old daughter; the daughter was very attached. Anyway, the mother would bring her daughter to class and breastfeed the child during lessons. It kind of caught me off guard, and I struggled with it slightly, but I soon got over it. I mean, she was a single mother trying to learn English, and no one else objected–which brings me to my next statement. The students, at the time, were all women. I wonder how the othe women felt about it? Do women give other women shit about breastfeeding publicly? And considering these were all foreigners, could our public shaming of breastfeeding be confined to the the US?
